And Another day.....

Well, the surf contiues to break here in Long Beach. I went down this morning, (forgot the camera), and there were already 20+ guys on it. It was fun. More lefts then rights.

All this surf at the home spot really makes you wish the breakwall was gone. Think of all the revenue the city is missing out on. This could really transform the city into a beach town to rival HB.

What a shame.

At least we got some while it worked.....

Wrong Beach

So I have been watching the weather and the forecast. We have a big West Swell and some wicked stroms dropping down from the NW. I decided to keep my eye on Long Beach, since it is so close.
I went down and the gate was open so I could drive out on the boat ramp at Claremont Ave. The ran was coming down hard, but the wind was minimal. I saw these two guys walk down and paddle out. I muast have sat, and watched for an hour. The Rain was coming down hard, but it was keeping the ocean smooth.
The waves were crossed up and stormy, but not choppy like you would expect. It actually looked real good. Another came out on a Pink Fish and got a good ride as I was Leaving. I went back down around 3:30 after the storm pased. The sun was out, but the winf had come up. I saw the guy on the Pink Fish Walking back. I stopped and asked him how it was, hes said "best ever, got some nice rides, overhead, even got an "in-n-out" barrel". An in and out barrel in Long Beach of alll places..............

Moon over Middles and Lowers

Surfing in the early morning is something kinda of magical. I have always enjoyed watching the sun come up.
Surfing is more than then just actually riding a wave. Surfing is the entire experiance. waking up early. Solitary drives in the car up and down the coast. Trestles is something totally different. It is the last little refuge in Southern California. You have to park a mile away, walk or ride your bike down the trail. It is not like other spots were you can pull up in the car, jump out and get in the water.
I have been accused of not surfing locally by my friends. Local would be HB, Seal Beach. Instead i would rather drive to Ventura or Santa Barbara in the Fall and Winter, or head south to Trestles. or even North LA County. I guess all those places have some similarities to them, the hills, the over all beauty.

But, for ease of surfing, I really need to surf HB more!
